MapMap (fr)
MapMap is a free/open source video mapping software. Projection mapping, also known as video mapping and spatial augmented reality, is a projection technology used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into a display surface for video projection. These objects may be complex industrial landscapes, such as buildings.
Alexandre Quessy is a artist-developer member of Perte de Signal who lives in Montreal. His artistic projects revolve around the topics of corporeality in the creation gesture. He his specialized in interactive video and is interested in multimodal sampling, show control and audio spatialization.
Peter Flemming
is a Canadian artist based in Montréal. His work makes use of improvisational kinetics and intuitive electronics, most recently exploring the idea of resonance through electromagnetically activated materials, mechanical performers and makeshift amplification devices. He teaches Electronics For Artists at Concordia University.
PROJECT
“Norman White’s Neuromime + Irrational Orchestration”
The Neuromime is open-source circuit designed by Norman T. White. To paraphrase Norman, this simple analog circuit acts like a biological nerve cell, and can be connected in chains and matrices to mimic simple neurological function. I will discuss a series of electro-physical artworks in progress entitled ‘Irrational Orchestration’ that will use the Neuromime as an underlying building block, to create an unpredictable and organically behaving system.

Open Ended Ensemble from Stephen Kelly on Vimeo.
Open Ended Ensemble is a series of installations in which a collection of electromechanical sound-producing automatons, or agents, integrate basic attributes of a biological living system. In the current version, an ensemble of self-modifying, high-voltage sound amplifiers slowly learn to maneuver a robotic probe to the strongest source of electro-magnetic radiation along a fluorescent light fixture, while simultaneously trying to produce tones in harmony with the audible EMR hum. The agents are navigating their world with partial information and limited motor control. They learn slowly over the course of several days or weeks, creating a sensorial experience that evolves over the duration of an exhibition.
Biography
Stephen Kelly is an artist, computer programmer, and musician living in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He has exhibited and participated in residency programs both nationally and internationally. His work incorporates sound, electronics, mechanics, and other media in the creation of thematically diverse, often complex systems of cultural exploration. Stephen has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design and a Master of Computer Science degree from Dalhousie University. He plans to continue crossing art and science within public installations and ongoing research projects in Machine Learning.

SOUCCS! U R Pwr! // SOUCCS Le Pvr = Nous!
SOUCCS! U R Pwr! // SOUCCS Le Pvr = Nous!
by Valérie d. Walker & Bobbi L. Kozinuk
What if everyone could afford power? How to pay for it? Why not a story?! Via our DIY hand-built circuits SOUCCS collects & provides pure Solar Power which we give away in exchange for a story.
No more burning dead dinosaurs or nuclear poisons to update your status! The power of our stories becomes apparent in the process of Charging + XxxxChanging… which takes time… just like a story. Collected stories are broadcast via a hand-made low-power FM transmitter in the Betamax case on the SOUCCS, eventually these stories will find their way onto community radio via the XX Files Radio show.
Thinking Capaciously, Bobbi and Valerie transform into *Trans-Futonik Griots Guides, at festival events & carrying mini-souccs chargers, move around the festival sites collecting stories in exchange for pure solar power, while providing helpful, anecdote-filled, positive tips to keep the future full of life and better than one can imagine now!!
*Trans-Futonik: beings from the future who can employ Tectonik planet power to time-shift. Griots: story-containing person who contains the ancestral and future memories of a village or community.
